The Unmanned Army

Matthew Brzezinski has a lengthy but good piece in todays NYTimes Magazine about the new way the armys fighting, the army of the information age. He emphasizes the unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV). Good read.

Yes, we (the Army) are fighting a new way--but its still soldiers--people-- who make it happen.

Kevin. Thanks. Believe me when I say that I agree with you: I know that it is the soldiers to make it happen, and they have been terrific. Every report on the battles that I have seen attest to their virtues. I couldnt be prouder of them! I do think that these gizmos are fun to think about, are useful and, some of them at least, will come to be. Just because they will be used (are used) doesnt mean that I wholly approve, either. I have a proper Churchillian perspective on technological matters; useful in the right hands, but very dangerous in the wrong and--most important take away from the proper human element that should be a part of war, the central part.
