Indentify People by the Way they Walk?

AP reports that he Pentagon is developing a radar-based device that can identify people by the way they walk, for use in a new antiterrorist surveillance system. It is claimed that a guy’s walk may be as much his own as his fingerprints. I don’t know about that, but I do know that I can spot an American at a hundred paces just based on his walk. If you press me, I’ll explain.

I’m curious. How does one determine that one who is walking is an American from 100 paces away? I used to think that you could tell by how fast one walked, but that theory was disproven once I came to New York.

Aristotle links gait to character... The gait of the good man is different from that of the bad man. But there are good and bad Americans (unless by american one means something more than just a SS card, and this entails a certain good character.)If I had to identify an american only by the way he walked I would check to see what type of shoe he wore, non-americans would be more likely to wear flip flops or go barefoot. This would especially be true if we could create a fake city of 1000 (you know the type sociologists like to talk about) representative of world population. Then it would be pretty easy.
