Michael Fumento gives the lie to the Pro-Fat Lobby. Fat Men get busy, eat less, work out more.

Sorry, it’s registration time, classes start Wednesday, and a College President has been speechifying.

I am surprised Arnold hasn’t spoken of a plan to whip Californians into better shape. Of course he picked Columbus Ohio as the location for the Arnold Fitness Expo... Columbus Ohio is known as a fast food paradise...Arnold could probably talk policy on this subject, without alienating voters or appearing foolish. Then again Schramm is the only one who seems to be openly pro-Arnold on this blog, and judging from the post above he seems to be touchy about how the fat issue is presented. This all goes to show that the second most important thing after having name recognition is to obscure the means by which one achieved it. In other words, gain recognition and then remain silent. People will vote for you if they have heard of you, and also heard nothing bad about you.

Let me have men about me that are fat,
Sleek-headed men, and such as sleep o’ nights:
Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look;
He thinks too much: such men are dangerous.

For years, we have overindulged ourselves as if it were a privilege to do so. "It’s my life and I can do what I want" mentality is a dangerous one. It leads us into temptation and we justify our behavior because we can whatever we want in the privacy of our homes, as long as we don’t hurt anyone else and nobody gets hurt. I’d rather fight this fight by watching what I eat, getting some regular exercise and feel better than go back to what I felt before. Will I ever be able to have a glass of wine or a cup of real ice cream again? Maybe not - but my public and private behavior must mimic one another, at least at the dinner table.

So go lull yourselves into lawsuit land and file away at restaurants who you think "owe" you something because you ate too many burgers and fries. Belly up to the buffet and don’t make those wise choices then blame your doctor, the fast food industry, your genetics - everything and everyone but yourself. Maybe they’ll ante up something so you can go on sitting on your couch, thinking TV is funny and let your body go to waste. And your mind for that matter - a steady diet of any kind of junk is bad for you. I don’t see anyone filing lawsuits against commercial TV and TV writers for "dumbing down" their minds with banal sitcoms, idiotic soaps or tired reality shows. Or is that next??
