Congressman Ralph Hall joined the Republican ranks on Friday, becoming the first Democrat to switch sides in the new year. A member of the House since 1980, Mr. Hall was welcomed into the party with "open arms."

He is 80, can’t we also get some younger ones to switch.
Strom was nearly 70 by the time he switched parties, and look how long he lasted! Besides, if 65 is the new 50, as the cliche goes, then 80 is the new 70, or something like that. I’m still hoping Rumsfeld will run for President in 2008.
