Bush Endorses Constitutional Amendment
Posted by Mickey Craig
Saying that he believes there needs to be clarity on the issue of marriage, President Bush has endorsed a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman. Bush says this is necessary because of the recent actions of the Mass. Supreme Judicial Court and the Mayor in San Francisco.

I hesitantly applaud Bushs endorsement of the amendment. While a defense of marriage squares with the objective moral law and with republican self-government in state/federal legislatures opposed to activist judges or law-breaking mayors, I am disappointed with his wavering stance on gay civil unions. If he believes that homosexuality is at odds with the moral law, then the act should be marginalized throughout our public policy and legislation, thus not allowing for benefits and such.
Bravo! It is about time that President Bush take this most important stand to protect the sanctity of marriage. I personally applaude him and his adminstration for taking this stand....finally!
