U.N. as failure

The Canadian PM said some very interesting things about the UN: "With yesterday’s landmark speech, Paul Martin tacitly acknowledged what Canada’s foreign policy establishment has refused to accept for decades: that the United Nations is a failure, for which there is no solution.

The Prime Minister’s proposed alternative is a new international body, the G-20 summit of world leaders, representative of North and South, developed and developing, rich and poor: a working group unfettered by the UN’s bureaucracy and its anachronistic Security Council." How about that!

I don’t think much of it. G-20 means including the likes of China, France, Russia, and Germany. It will simply replicate the deadlock in the Security Council. If anything can be learned from that sorry experience, it is that joining an organization with powers whose interests are opposed to yours will not be productive.

I didn’t realize that United States soldiers were gang raping women:

I guess we can use 9-11 to justify anything...I’m up for a good gang rape and if we get caught we could just point to 9-11.

Tell me who’s justifying this, and maybe we can have an intelligent conversation about it. But given your statement "I’m up for a good gang rape" that might be too much to ask for.
