In following my own recommendation, I relate to you the most recent press release from the Coalition:
The 1st Infantry Division along with the Iraqi Security Forces have secured four key infrastructures in Baqubah, June 24. These infrastructures include: the Blue Dome, the government building, the Mufrek Traffic Circle and the Baqubah Police Station.
Any "success" the insurgents in Baqubah was short-lived indeed.
Hooah!!
According to my local news: "The violence (todays) has some questioning next weeks transfer of power." Of course, they were doing this long before the events of today!
Any word on how many killed and wounded in these attacks? The news has been saying anywhere from 70-100, but never say if that number is enemy fighters, American soldiers, civilians, or some combination. Thanks.
The official reports say that two soldiers were killed and 7 wounded in Baqubah. I had originally heard that there were about 40 terrorists involved in the initial attacks there, so I think there is some inflation in those reports, unless they are reporting casualties for all of Iraq.
