Alan Wirzbicki writes a short piece for The New Republic on Philip Zelikow, who has been the 9/11 Commissions executive director. Zelikow is moving back to the University of Virginias Miller Center, which had been running until he was asked to be the Commissions staff director. He traces Zelikows GOP credentials and his close association with Condi Rice, and some of the politics involved in all this. Since this was written before the writer read the Commissions report, it is excusable that he writes: "How is it, then, that Zelikow steered the Commission to a report that will be critical of the Bush administration?" No doubt more will be said about Zelikow in the future.
