Bush doubling his black support?
Posted by Peter W. Schramm
Star Parker tries to explain the two recent polls showing Bush with about 17-18% support from blacks (double what he got in 2000). Parker is not surprised by this and thinks that the gay marriage issue is one reason, aside from general disillusionment with the Demos.

More blacks have been appointed to positions of power under Bush. This fact has never been played up because Bush is too dumb.
I think that you also need to take into consideration some of the efforts of Republicans at the local level. As an employee at the Ohio House, I know that the representative I work for has spent the last couple of years really reaching out to black leaders in his district - especially the ministers individuals who run community organizations. Gay marriage is one issue of concern, but the black community is especially interested in things like faith-based initiatives, school vouchers and charter schools which are not typically Democratically-driven. I think some of these relationships forged with local conservatives might start paying off in national elections.
Thats right, Viv. Democrats say to Black voters - "Stay in your failed public schools, accept our dole, and stay hooked on affirmative action because youre too stupid to compete. By the way, vote for us and shut up!" Black voters are waking up to this oppression.
