Strengthening Constitutional Self-Government

Plump Jack, and others

Fat is good. "The new analysis found that obesity — being extremely overweight — is indisputably lethal. But like several recent smaller studies, it found that people who are modestly overweight actually have a lower risk of death than those of normal weight." I am only modestly overweight, in my estimation. So, there you have it. It’s over. The temptation to bring in some Falstaff, Twain, and other worthies on this issue is almost overwhelming, but, like most modestly fat people, I am able to restrain myself. But, if you are a pencil neck, beware.

This is awful news, if you compound the literary references by including Aristophanes’ Assemblywomen. Given the inordinate egalitarianism in this country, fat people (or should we say the "corporulently endowed"?) need to be treated as victims. As with the Assemblywomen, we need government programs to match them up with supermodels.

I live in Minnesota, an overweight state with extreamly high meat consumpsion. I’ll give you one guess which state has the lowest death rate from heart disease. That’s right, good old Minnesota which also is usually in the top 2 in life expectancy. The next time some wheat-grass dumb-*** tells you what will kill you, smile eat some more bacon.
