The Age of Reagan

Jonah Goldberg just got around to reading Hayward’s "The Age of Reagan" and thinks it is "one of the best histories of recent American politics I’ve ever come across." I agree, but really Jonah, the darn thing was published five years ago!

Jonah says I didn’t put him up to it, but the horse’s head in the bed must have had some effect.

He just got around to reading it....

That book, {as I had the honour of saying to the author} could be the BEST political biography of our time. It’s exceptional, absolutely superb.

Peter - I’ve noticed that some of your "books of the week" are already collecting dust on my shelves of books I’ve read!!! Touche!

I confess to owning and not reading the same book. Having lived through the "age of Reagan" it seemed that reading the analysis of the same could wait. There are so many books which clamor for attention. My library book bag says "So little time, so many books." which is simply true. A really good book is still rewarding many years past publication date. I am content to hear that my investment in "Age of Reagan" will pay me dividends when I have time to read it. It is pleasing to own the best books.
