Kidney Markets

The just comment has been made that posting only Gil Meilaender’s article against selling kidneys was hardly fair and balanced.
So here’s the quite different view of Sally Satel. Sally is quite a brilliant, rather libertarian psychiatrist and public policy expert who is affiliated with AEI. She also received the life-saving gift of a kidney from the well-known libertarian author Virginia Postrel.

True...but Sallys objections and starting points leave no room for Gil Meilaenders. Different ethical foundations stemming from different ontologies ensure that they speak across each other...The point I would make in favor of a market is this: A market in Kidneys does not tyrannize Meilaender since he is free not to participate. Not allowing a market tyrannizes anyone who needs/wants a kidney and doesnt agree with Meilaenders points.
