Riots in Hungary

Hungary’s PM (a Socialist, heading the only government to be re-elected since the fall of the Communists) admits to lying on taped conversation during the election in the Spring ("We lied morning, noon and night"), tapes revealed, then riots break out in Budapest. About 150 people were injured, over a hundred were police officers. Here is the AP report. This is the Magyar Hirlap (in Hungarian) for the civilized reader!

Peter,

As a person with a profound interest in Hungary, are you more concerned with the lying by the party in power, or with the disorder which has followed?

Wm: Both are demoralizing. I am looking for democrats in a democratic regime, both citizens and representatives!

Well, there’s a big surprise, a politician of the Left, engaging in deception.

Who’d a thunk it?

Bigger story would have been if they had tapes of a Lefty politician saying that despite the political problems, that they actually told the truth. Now THAT would have been something.
