Is the source from which stem cells are obtained the only concern with approving & funding stem cell research?

I don’t follow the issue closely, but as I understand it is the embryonic dimension (and the related cloning) that is the main issue of contention. There is no opposition anywhere, I don’t think, to research on stem cells from cord blood and other sources. The fault line is that many advocates say that only embryonic stem cells will do, but this is disputed.

Steven,

There IS opposition to stem cell research from sources other than embryos. ALL of the opposition comes from Democrats, such as Cardin, who voted against funding adult stem cell research.

A bill called the "Alternative Pluripotent Stem Cell Therapies Enhancement Act" passed the Senate unanimously. It failed in the House. The vote in the House was

Democratic: 58 Yes 138 No 5 Not Voting.

Republican:215 Yes 15 No 1 Not Voting.

Here’s the vote. The Bill was "To derive human pluripotent stem cell lines using techniques that do not knowingly harm embryos." It is here.

That is 138 Democrats, including Ben Cardin, who voted AGAINST non-embryonic stem cell research.

Fox will make an apperance with candidate Brown at the OSU College of Law if anyone wishes to see. I can provide more info for people who are interested.

Ugh... well, I hope you’re right that’s he inimitable. One Scrappleface (??) is enough.

Seems like the Right has really followed CLAREMONT-STATESMANSHIP-AWARD-WINNING (!!) Rush Limbaugh’s lead and is on the attack against that evil-doer Michael J. Fox.
