Sometimes little things become fittingly symbolic of the state of play in politics. So yesterday House Speaker Denny Hastert had a televised press availability . . . in front of a cemetery.

Hastert should go for the simple reason he’s a dope. The party that couldn’t be bothered to stand behind a genuine parliamentarian like Delay shouldn’t be in any hurry to stand behind a non-entity like Hastert.
Not a smart man. He should be dumped after the election.
Here’s my cheap shot of the day: I think they were counting on Hastert to fill the frame entirely and obscure the background.
