Robert Browning

I recently suggested to a mother some poems and books for children and among them was The Pied Piper of Hamelin which I haven’t read in a couple of years (although when my kids were young I read it so often that I had almost memorized; they loved it); it’s still a great read for any age. Here is a nice children’s edition.

I vote that Peter narrate the Pied Piper of Hamelin on CD...
My kids also enjoy the Pied Piper of Hamelin. But my daughter likes Kipling better--especially the poems that finish each of the Just So stories. Of course, the stories themselves read like poetry and they are very fun to read aloud. My son, on the other hand, likes Edward Lear from this edition--particularly the one about the Jumblies and the Dong with a Luminous Nose. We also have and enjoy the Browning, the Kipling and the Shakespeare editions in this same series. They are beautifully illustrated and, if your school does the Scholastic book sales, you can usually buy them in a bundle for a very reasonable price.
