Strengthening Constitutional Self-Government

No Left Turns

This should be a Hayward post

But he’s very busy, so I’ll link to this rewritten "Night Before Christmas", featuring Al Gore. A sample:

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

That’s because AlGore had been through the place,

Taking out every light bulb, and heater of space.

So I guess the "con" part of the partisan "crunchy con" trumps the "crunchy" part. Tasty organic foods that can be marketed as exclusive and fancy are one thing, but even the slightest question regarding America’s rates of consumption and waste, for example, are off limits, as are any questions about long-term sustainability.

Yes, that’s right, Al Gore’s radical ideas for tackling global warming will result in us living without light or heat (the old "they want to send us back to the dark ages, to live like cavemen" canard). Concern for global warming equals hatred of freedom...or some such nonsense. Absurd on its face.

I want to veer off politics for a moment and give a shout-out to poor Clement Clark Moore, who surely must be spinning in his grave fast enough to light the Times Square Xmas tree, every year about this time.

Daniel -

Thanks for the thought - I’ve credited Moore for the inspiration.

Mr. Green, I think it would have been more appropriate to offer Moore an apology for your ham-handed, Exxon-pleasing perversion of the original.
