Advantage Obama

Bad news for Senator Clinton: Senator Obama raised $25 million during the first quarter, one million shy of Hillary, but almost all of it can be used in the primaries for him (not so for her). Besides, isn’t it true that Hillary’s 26 mil includes circa 10 from her war chest? Also note that 90% of Obama’s donations were for $100 or less, and $6.9 million came via the internet! Very impressive.

Impressive indeed!

Question -- assuming the next president is a Democrat, who would you rather it be: Hillary or Obama. Choice is between those two.

My impression was that HRC’s had $26 million in new money plus the $10 million left over from the Senate campaigns.

San Jose Mercury reports the following: "Clinton officials said she plans to report a total of $36 million in receipts, including about $10 million transferred from her 2006 Senate race. That total is four times the $8.9 million Vice President Al Gore collected in the first quarter of 1999, the previous record for the period." She hit that target by asking donors to give for both the primary ($2,300.00 max./person) and general ($2,300.00 max./person) election campaigns. Her campaign would have to return donations designated for the general election campaign if she does not garner the nomination. Obama’s was almost all for the primaries, so that’s the really impressive amount.
