George F. Will reminds us of Fred Thompson’s Senate career, the hallmark of which seems to have been his support for the lamentable McCain/Feingold campaign finance reforms. I’d love to see Thompson repudiate that position.
He has at least started to. See this blog.
If we start excluding candidates based on one sin, political or personal, we’re unilaterally disarming ourselves and handing the presidency to the Democrats. Some people, clearly, are comfortable doing this. I’m not.
While I disagree with him on this issue, it’s certainly minor in comparison to my problems with the big 3. Besides, there’s a good chance the Supreme Court will strike down major portions of the legislation this summer.
