As a devout Catholic, I don't see much reason to celebrate. GU and other Catholic colleges should be Catholic through and through. Well, there's always Christendom and Wyoming Catholic and St. Thomas Aquinas. I'm beginning to think Peter Kreeft, et al. are wrong (as much as I hate to say that) and that we need to unite against the common enemy of secularism. With Evangelical missions in Latin America, Eastern Europe, and on our Catholic campuses, maybe it's time to batten down the hatches and catechize our own.
I would support Georgetown's mission, if it defined itself as exclusively Catholic, but it doesn't.
And, it sure isn't!
Georgetown, as it represents itself to its (law) students, is "a school in the Jesuit tradition." Trust me, there isn't any catechizing going on here.
