Strengthening Constitutional Self-Government

No Left Turns

Book reviews, continued

The Sunday NYT book review section has all sorts of nuggets (calling them gems would be too strong). Michael Lind reviews the Gerson and Bolton tomes. Alan Ehrenhalt (one of my favorite fair-minded observers of American politics) takes a look at David Frum’s new book. And Notre Dame historian R. Scott Appleby reviews two of this season’s efforts to resuscitate the religious Left, by E.J. Dionne, Jr. and Amy Sullivan.

David Frum who has made a career out of defaming everyone to his right has now written a book about how to save conservatism. How special.

Real Conservatives should read Paul Gottfried's latest book on how the right is not really right.

Speaking of Frum, I am always skeptical of conservatives who attempt to tell us how to modernize and update conservatism. They are always advising us that something that was once accepted as dogma must now be jettisoned in the name of progress and/or electoral success. David Frum fast approaching David Brooks and Kevin Phillips territory.
