Kmiec is Professor of Constitutional Law, Pepperdine University and served as head of the Office of Legal Counsel (U.S. Assistant Attorney General) for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Although this may be surprising, I am betting that we will see more such during the campaign. While he gives other reasons, note this...."the office of the presidency, which it was once my privilege to defend in public office formally, has been distorted beyond its constitutional assignment."
And Kmiec believes that a Democrat, a DEMOCRAT will be one to restore a traditional understanding of the respective spheres of the Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches..................????????
The very idea is so ridiculous as forever to brand Kmiec an unserious interlocutor on the affairs of state.
But his reaction is but to be expected after the wreckage of the Bush 2d term.
Bush is confusion writ large across the stage, nay, writ large across the heavens themselves. And will always be recalled so.
How shall we explain Bush to posterity? What excuse can we advance, what extenuation are we to proffer?
There may well be more such, as Professor Schramm says, but it's still ridiculous.

Ok, I've noted it, but do you, Dr. Schramm, agree with it? I think this is an important issue that principled conservatives need to grapple with.
How nice of Craig Scanlon to advise principled conservatives about what they need to do. Of course, I won't hold my breath waiting for the radical left to grapple with the Constitution or separation of powers issues.
