It’s PALIN!

Our MAN has shown he wants to win by picking a tough and capable WORKING MOM!

The best choice that McCain could have made, I think. Bad news for the Obama people, especially with that crowd of disgruntled Clinton backers who really, really want to see a woman in the White House; young Palin next-in-line to ancient McCain is probably enticing to them.

She's also got a good deal of executive experience, which is lacking on the tickets this fall and which is something that Americans traditionally like in the White House. She's a hard working mother, good looking, very popular, and a "get it done" type of person. McCain-Palin has the type of experience and personality that I think would be very appealing to the American public. McCain with his high foreign policy credentials and experience in dealing with Congress, and Palin with her executive experience and knack for political reform, are a big threat to Obama-Biden. The Obama people should be worried, I think.

She hunts, she fishes, she is a lifetime NRA member, she is pro-life, she has more executive experience that Obama, Biden, and McCain combined, she has successfully fought against government corruption and bloat, and she won 2nd in beauty pagent.

DAMN!

This is very shrewd choice.

I've checked around on some liberal websites. Their latest headlines read: "Crap".

This is going to be an interesting election; I think middle America is going to love Sarah Palin.

Peter, I hope you are right on this. I continue to think that she is too inexperienced to be taken seriously as the "heartbeat away" person.

She has been governor of the 47th most populous state for less than two years and before that was mayor of a town of just over 5,000 (according to Wikipedia). Between those roles she worked on the Oil and Gas Commission. Just not that impressive.

Don't get me wrong. I wish her and McCain the best and hope that I am wrong and everyone here is right. She may have all the qualities we hope she has and those qualities, I hope, will be on clear display throughout the campaign. Time will tell. Peter might recall that at Oglethorpe in February I made the audacious argument that campaigns matter. Well, in the last 24 hours we have seen the proof in that pudding.

Is there perhaps a concern that conservatives will be dismayed that a mother with a one-year-old with Down syndrome would want the VP job? What might work to her credit in some circles is certainly a debit in others.

Perhaps in the Amish community there might be some soul-searching.... But in mainstream America, this pick is going to go over well, particularly with real Christians.

And DALE, I only have one brief addition to your post in # 2, and that is in your 2d paragraph, which should read instead of "DAMN!," ---------------------------------"HOT DAMN!"
