No Left Turns

For Governor Palin’s Next Speech?

I’m from Alaska, or as Senator Obama calls it the 57th State.

I would add that unlike Senator Obama, I can tell the difference between a map and a Heinz Ketchup label.

that's funny

I've seen and heard so many references to this that I finally took a few seconds to watch it. As a guy who is DEFINITELY NOT an Obama supporter, I'd let this go. It's obvious to me from the context that he meant to say "47" instead of "57." "One left to go" and not allowed to go to Hawaii or Alaska (presumably due to budget issues I guess) leaves him with 47. It was an innocent mistake in my view.

Actually, Alaska would be the 56th state. Hawaii was last. And I don't think anyone views this as more than an innocent mistake, but as often as the current President has been criticized for his verbal miscues there is an aspect of poetic justice in this.

Nope. Not the 56th state either. He said, "I've been to 57 states, one left to go. I'm not allowed to go to Alaska and Hawaii..."

He's been to 57. One left to go, that he's allowed to go to (58). And two others Alaska (59) and Hawaii (60), that he's not allowed to go to.

So, Alaska would either be #59 or #60.

Actually the Organization of the Islamic Conference has 57 states as members. Check it for yourself:
