I was shocked to
learn that it has become "standard operating procedure" for political campaigns to pay bloggers for favorable coverage. If only someone would pay me the compliment of
trying to induce me to rent my analytical abilities until November. I'm sure I would take the opportunity to give a righteously indignant speech about my inviolable integrity, right out of a Frank Capra film.
Alas, it seems not to have occurred to any candidate that my independence is worth bidding on. Pending further notice, then, NLT readers can rest assured that every half-baked argument and stretched-to-the-breaking-point metaphor appears in my posts because I sincerely believe the drivel I write.

Buy the man's book, NLTers. You won't be sorry.
