Baby got Beck
Posted in Economy by Richard Adams
Now would be a good time to remind all union members of their rights under the
Beck decision. No union may force its members to for political activities, among other things. Relatively few union members know about the decision.

Awesome title to the post!!!
I appreciate the reminder. I have exercised these rights as a "Fair Share" teacher in a local school district. Essentially, I get a rebate check for about $125 of the $700 worth of annual union dues – that represents the amount that the NEA and OEA claim goes towards political contributions. The problem, however, is that the organization that I ideologically disagree with still gets some of my money. The local union leadership claims that I get the benefit of their negotiations and liability protection, but I contend that I could get both of those things for far less than $575 per year.
I have written Governor Kasich and our state legislators in hopes that Senate Bill 5 opens the door to Right to Work legislation for Ohio.
