Strengthening Constitutional Self-Government

So I was watching some of the 3:00 PM MSNBC show.  The host summed up the over-the top Maureen Dowd column where she compared Tea Party supporters to cannibals, vampires, zombies, and he chest bursters from Alien.  There was actually something that was worth talking about in the column.  It was the part where Dowd quotes Jason Zinoman as saying "The monster has traditionally been a stand-in for some anxiety, political, social, or cultural." That is a pretty good jumping off point for talking about how liberal attempts to demonize and dehumanize Tea Party supporters (terrorists, vampires etc.) says a lot about how many on the left-of-center hate and fear the thought of a determined, democratic opposition that uses peaceful, constitutional means.

So the MSNBC host brought on a guest and they proceeded to describe Tea Party supporters as delusional and psychotic and compared them to addicts and the Norway mass murdering terrorist.  All in the name of rationality of course.

There is an old belief that if you repeat something enough, you begin to believe it whether it is true or not. Global warming comes to mind right off the bat followed by leftist elitist Al Gore.

I hope that the MSNBC crew along with Maureen Dowd repeat their foolish mantras about the Tea Party on the nightly news ad nausem. These leftist elitists are nothing but fools which brings to mind this quote:

You can educate a fool, but you cannot make them think.

Fitting....

The Tea Party has recklessly diminished the power and reach of the United States. -- Richard Cohen, NYTimes

Is Cohen so dense to believe that other countries aren't completely more aware of the current monetary situation than the average American ? Putin was bashing Americans just the other day as "parasites," and he isn't too far off the truth.

This debt problem isn't just a domestic problem. The continued running up of the debt and monetary tricks with the dollar is as bad for foreign relations as any "Ugly American" policy of the past.

Oh for God's sake go back to school and stop whining about the quality of political discourse these days.

Such pointless musings are annoying no matter whether they come from the left or the right. Face it, those on the left think Obama and his ilk are socialists; people on the right think Boehner and his ilk are terrorists. Such assertions sell advertising time on radio and television. Accept it or ignore it, but stop whining about it.

Actually, so long as some folks will use acts of violence (some utterly apolitical as such things are understood) to slander their democratic political opponents as violent extremists, I'll do what very little I can to point out their rancid and loathsome hypocrisy, along with the attendant errors of thought. No doubt there are some who would prefer to see such figures and their slanders go uncriticized altogether. They'll just have to get over it.

Have you considered the recursive absurdity of engaging in content less complaining about complaints about the media?
