Craig Crawford has a piece on Hillary, properly entitled, "Wherever They Look, Democrats See Hillary Clinton. I liked this line: "Putting aside President Bushs peace mission abroad, only Martha Stewart got as much publicity as Hillary Clinton this week. Too bad for the two divas that they never have gotten together. Martha could teach Hillary how to bake cookies, and Hillary could teach Martha something about prosecutors."
Hmm...interesting questions. I would hate it if conservatives dismissed Hilary as a dark horse, a leftover, a misfit. She is bankable and "spinable" - the right kind of publicity will (and is) making her look sympathetic. To thousands of women who have fought and wrangled with philandering husbands, she will look like a victim of his stupidity OR like a woman who is powerful enough to control millions of dollars in contributions and commands great influence but unable to stop her wandering spouse. If were lucky, it will be the latter scenario, but I doubt it. Im wondering where the feminists are?? Isnt this what the empowered woman is all about?? We dont need no stinkin men??!! Our destiny is our own, sisters!!!
Back to reality. Ill wager money that Hillbaby will look sympathetic while carrying the "I am strong, I am invincible" banner into 2004. While I dont think shell actually sign up for a run at the White House, she will bide her time, pile money into the war chest and wait patiently. After all, this is a woman who apparently was willing to hitch her political wagon to a philandering husband all these years so she could powertrip to the top. Why would she suddenly break form for an ill-fated run at the top job? She plays to win and in 2004, she wouldnt win.
If youll excuse me, I have some cookies in the oven and decorations to make out of construction paper, broken dishes and craft wire for a potluck party this afternoon. Cheers!
