"Suburban Virginia police said Mrs. Gregg had been out, but returned to her house about 9:30 a.m. ET only to find two men, one black, one white, waiting inside. One of the men drew a knife and demanded cash."
Bet we see a bunch of new federal legislation about this type of thing even though there already are laws on the books about this type of crime.
Im sorry to be so cynical and Im happy that she appears to be safe.

I think Senator Gregg is more a Federalist than that. I doubt if he would make a Federal case out of "armed trespass" and "armed robbery". Of course, kidnapping and bank robbery already are.
"A similarly brazen crime happened in the exclusive McLean neighborhood last week. In that incident, a woman was putting her two children into a car outside a 7-11 convenience store when the family was abducted by one male at gunpoint and forced to withdraw money from an area bank, police said."
Apparently he lives in a bad neighborhood. I think his best solution is a Virginia CCW Permit, a nice, petite .40 Cal. Semi-auto, and some tactical shooting training for his wife. Had she been so prepared before the incident in question, the bad guys would have learned why you dont bring a knife to a gun fight.
