The above quote is from RNC spokesman Christine Iverson. It comes from this article, which details how he has committed $5 million to Moveon.org in an effort to defeat the president in 2004.
According to the article, Soros was deeply "sensitized" by his childhood in Hungary, where he experienced occupation by both the Nazis and the Soviets. "When I hear Bush say, Youre either with us or against us, it reminds me of the Germans," he is quoted as saying.
Byron York has an article in the current National Review about Soros and the $10 million he put up to start the organization Americans Coming Together (ACT) to oppose the President in 2004. While Republicans outpace Democrats with hard money raised, Democrats collect far more soft money contributions and put it to use despite campaign finance reform by creating organizations such as Soross ACT.
All the money in the world cant return the Democrats their birthright they left behind when the baby boom came of age, in the late sixties.
Fortunately enough Reagan and the GOP were smart enough to pick up the ideas (ie., supply-side tax cutting and tough cold warriorism), refine them and add to them the grace of God, and continue where the Party of Jefferson left off.
Dont think theyll be givin that birthright back to the Democrats anytime soon... heck, as Anthony Lake points out, they wouldnt know what it if we did!
