Missouri favors state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage

With nearly all precincts reporting, the amendment had garnered 71 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results for Tuesday’s vote."

Why, again, is the GOP so scared of the gay marriage issue?

This is a battleground state, and the GOP position garners 70%.

Policy positions that win 70% and are consistent with party principles are a rare gift from Heaven. Yet so many GOPsters shy away from the issue....

Who says the GOP is afraid of the issue? Bush seems to have no problem telling people he supports a constitutional amendment to outlaw gay marriage. It’s Kerry who’s running from this issue--as well he might.

Personally I oppose messing with the constitution over this, but if it helps bring Bush supporters out on Election Day--particularly here in Ohio--I certainly won’t complain.

The problem is that out of control judges are already effectively amending the US Constitution (e.g. USSC Lawrence decision).

Even if the FMA does not pass, but does reign in judges then it will have done a lot of good.
