Powerline links to this site, which provides some insight into who is actually doing the heavy lifting in the tsunami relief efforts and who is publicly taking the credit. Im not surprised.

Another thing to note: A huge proportion of the dead & the now mortally endangered, esp in Sumatra and Malaysia, are Muslim.
What are the oil-rich Arab and other Muslim-ruled countries doing to help? Not all that much, as far as I can tell.
How much money has the Sultan of Brunei (the Muslim ruler of an oil-rich statelet on Borneo, and the worlds richest individual) given to help tsunami victims?
Id like to think that the continuing US & Australian-spearheaded relief efforts will improve our standing in the Muslim-world media, but Im not optimistic. This is not b/c I think Muslims ungrateful (indeed, I think many everyday Muslims already like us a lot). Rather, I think its b/c the "opinion elites" who dominate public communication in that world are mostly Arab and dont feel very affected by all this--certainly they will never allow it to crowd out their cynical faux-obsession w/ the "plight of the Palestinians," etc. etc.
