Harvard faculty meeting
Posted by Joseph Knippenberg
Here, courtesy of my new penpal Katie Newmark is an extended account of the infamous Harvard faculty meeting. Of the members of the Government Department who spoke, Stanley Hoffmann went down in my estimation and Nancy Rosenblum went up.

Pitiful, just pitiful. Yet again I am ashamed of my discipline (or, more specifically, many of the people in it). Such mediocre minds...Harvard used to be a great institution. Theda Skocpol, who is a historicist (and therefore not prone to believing in absolute truth), evidently believes that there is such a truth when it comes to women and science. What a hypocrite!
Hurrah for Steven Pinker and Stephen Thernstrom...voices of reason and sanity. Too few, too few in todays academy.
