One billion plus for tsunami relief

Chuck Simmins has been keeping track of the amount of private dollars Americans have given to the tsunami relief effort: It is now over one billion dollars, and he has stopped counting. (Thanks to Instapundit).

Ah, but I thought Americans were "selfish" and "greedy," at least according to Jimmy Carter.
Theres at least one more scandal brewing in Canada over this issue. Of course, thats our big federal government at work, but even these big NGO bureaucracies, I wonder percentage of the donated money is actually given to the tsunami victims and victim countries.
