Did He Blink, or Is This Rope-a-Dope?

Harry Reid says in todays New York Times that he does not anticipate a filibuster against Bushs Supreme Court nominee. Reid might be wanting to restraint the hot-heads like Schumer in his caucus, or he might be trying to lull Bush into nominating someone who he can claim constitutes an "extreme circumstance."

I really think he is trying to lure Bush into nominating that is an "extreme circumstance." However, it is equally as likely that no matter who it is they will consider that person an "extreme circumstance" but having said the above comment they will use that as a sound bite to "prove" that they were willing to work with Bush if the nominee wasnt an "extremist."
