Robert Alt at NRO

For those who are lax in the internet surfing habits because of the lazy, hazy days of summer, heres Robert Alts explanation of why the Chief Justice should resign sooner rather than later.
The same section of the NRO website contains Senator Jon Cornyns omnibus response to much blathering. Both are worth reading.

Yes, we best heed Cornyns advice on judiciary matters, or we might be faced with more "episodes of courthouse violence"!! Yes, Brian Nichols was acting out against unaccountable judges and judicial activism when he shot all those people in the Atlanta courtroom. Why do I suspect that Nichols might only have a blank stare in response if asked for his opinion on judicial activism. Same goes for the motives of the guy who shot the Chicago judges family, right? Heres another pearl of wisdom from Cornyn:
“I don’t know if there is a cause-and-effect connection, but we have seen some recent episodes of courthouse violence in this country... And I wonder whether there may be some connection between the perception in some quarters, on some occasions, where judges are making political decisions yet are unaccountable to the public, that it builds up and builds up and builds up to the point where some people engage in violence. Certainly without any justification, but a concern that I have.”
No doubt followed by a wink-wink. Right - Cornyn is an antidote to blathering.
