Dr. Schramm, I can relate to Mr. Reillys experience. I had the honor of going with my wife(originally from Romania) as she obtained her U.S. citizenship in the Charlotte(NC) office of the INS in Dec 2000.
Like Reilly described, the Charlotte office was a melange of about 150 soon to be citizens from every corner of the earth. I looked at them and was awe-struck at the hopes and dreams that they must surely have carried within themselves. By taking the oath they were guaranteed a life of free expression without fear of being jailed or murdered for their dissenting views. Our own "home grown" radical dissenters could learn from these new citizens.
Dear Mr. Schramm,
I’ve always admired Robert Reilly’s work, but nothing moved me as much as his WT piece, which, had it not been for you, I would have missed.
I’ve also been reading your own posts with delight.
I would love to feature you as a guest on my talk radio show--the only conservative show on either radio or television in Vermont. Ken Masugi is a frequent, and favorite, guest on my show.
Please let me know if you’re interested. And thank you agan for lovely reading for the 4th. Please convey my compliments to Mr. Reilly, and my congratulations from a 3rd-generation to a 1st-generation American lady.
Cordially,
Laurie
