Mongolia

This is ABC News account of Bushs stop in Mongolia. This is the BBCs version. All the jokes about Mongolia (fierce warriors, statute of Ghengis Khan, etc) aside, I think it is significant that Bush would be the first U.S. president to visit the country.
Its location makes it important to us. Here is the CIA Factbook on Mongolia.

Theres a very interesting chapter on Mongolia in Robert Kaplans new book, Imperial Grunts.
Peter, you know youre excited because it is the land of our forefathers, you crazy Hun!
I like the fact that Mongolia was one of the major members of Bushs "Coalition of the Willing," since they sent us about 120 troops. Then, we awarded them a few million dollars for them to improve their military. Talk about looking a Mongolian horse in the mouth!
Next stop on Bushs tour of major countries who approve of Bush: Yakutsk.
120? I wouldve thought the Mongolians couldve provided more than that. Would a horde have been too much to ask for?
I am of Yakutsk. We are not country, we are city in Russia! How dare you mock??
I think Fungs knowledge of Asian geography comes from playing "Risk."
Well, hordes arent what they used to be.
Actually, this was an unsuccessful attempt to disparage Bushs geographic knowledge. Some can tell em and some cant!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
