The Future of Europe?

Between this story about a Belgian woman who (through her husband) became a convert to a radical version of Islam and a suicide bomber and the riots in France last month, the future of Europe begins to look bleak indeed. How can the secular culture of today’s Europe combat this kind of fanaticism? What does it offer to capture the hearts, minds and imaginations of their people? With so little to inspire them, the spread of radical Islam in Europe will become more than just an immigration problem. It seems to be becoming a conversion problem. Perhaps Ann Coulter mispoke after all when she called some years ago for stepped up Christian missionary efforts in the Islamic world. Perhaps where we really need them is in Europe.

In all seriousness, there is always fascism. The Euros have been pretty good at that, and I have no doubt it would work to counteract Islamic militancy. Of course, I would prefer a great religious awakening or something more constructive....

There will be blood in the streets, and a return of a genuine Rightist party, predicated upon blood and soil.

It won’t be pretty.

It’s amazing when you think about it, the policies of the Left are PRODUCING precisely the enviornment for a return of the Francos, the Hitlers, Il Duce.

But as a pre-modern source stated: "He confuses the proud in their inmost thought."

Expect a wave of immigration, fear, anxiety, hightened and wild rhetoric, the smuggling of arms, the establishment of militias, governmental intrigues, talk of mutinies in the high command of their armed forces. Expect conflicting statements from Catholic prelates and primates, renewed demands from Lefties for an acceleration of their multi-cultural insanity, expect hysterical pleas for "understanding," and also expect discussion of a "land for peace deal" within the heart of Western Europe.

It will all be insane. And we are going to see it all play out right before our very eyes. As I said, it ain’t gonna be pretty.

if you pass a certain tipping-point percentage of Muslims in your population, and they concentrate geographically (out of whatever combination of their own insularity and the host country’s exclusivity) you will sooner or later have an "umma" problem, with your local Muslims demanding "Muslim rule" over "Muslim land." The "no-go" burning banlieus of France are probably just the camel’s nose under the tent. A big irony is that Euro bien-pensants hate Israel even as they can’t see that they are on the way to BECOMING another Israel, just on a bigger geographic scale.

Julie, are you the new Debbie Schlussel here, or what? She also wrote about ths Belgian woman who married ...blah, blah, blah.

Don’t worry about Europe, we will be fine.

Good lord Dain are you predicting a resurgence of concentration camps in Europe?

I think if Europeans think their demographic and cultural survival is on the line, they may well resort to such things (out of desperation). Why would you doubt it? Just look at their behavior during the 20th century.

"stepped up Christian missionary efforts"?? Here is what Coulter said:

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren’t punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That’s war. And this is war."

What she did was make a ludicrous, simultaneous defense of coercive "missionary efforts" and, implicitly, the mass slaughter of the same civilians who would supposedly benefit from their own conversion. Which did she desire more, their deaths or their conversions? Did the order of those matter?

In saying that she "misspoke" you are really only saying that she chose the wrong target for her idea (and I use the word idea very loosely there), and you further demonstrate that you should not be taken seriously.

I’m sure you know that Coulter stated that her "only regret" was that Timothy McVeight didn’t go to the New York Times bldg. and blow it up with the editors and writers inside. And I’m sure you know that she has seriously stated that "it would be a much better country if women did not vote."

Yes, yes, Ann had a great proposal; she was merely wrong about where it should be implemented. Nice one, Julie!

societies, or in heavily Muslim areas of mixed societies (such as Nigeria) there are NO missionary efforts of any kind by other religions, since Muslims regard conversions away from Islam as grounds for murder and have been known to destroy entire villages over a single conversion.

But never mind--Ann Coulter is the REAL threat!

Right, Sherlock.
