Stephen Hayes gives us more on Fred Thompson and his likely bid for the White House. I like the kinds of details that Hayes notes and the impressions he gleans from them. He is an observant and perceptive reporter and writes with clarity and (I think) purpose. A good read!

Problems with Fred Thompson: (1) he is not a real conservative, (2) he is a neocon - member of CFF, (3) is weak on immigration - see his immigration report card from ABI, and (4) supports affirmative action. He will be another GW. https://conservativetimes.org/?p=200

Can someone name the perfect conservative candidate? I think it's going to come down to the lesser of two evils and "the right" had better get a grip on that now. Not one candidate is perfect in my estimation, but when reviewing their records and qualifications, I believe I will be able to choose the candidate that I feel is the "best" option in my opinion, and will certainly be better than Hillary or Obama...
No candidate has ever been "perfect" since Hitlar. Now that I have your attention, let me explain. In a dictatorship, the dictator is "perfect" because no one daresays otherwise. In a democracy (OK, even a republic, but who's counting?), perfection is in the eye of the beholder. That's why I agree with Deb. No conservative candidate is going to be perfect for all conservatives.
I am a conservative who believes in the first amendment, free markets (no monopolies), low taxes (you pay your way; I'll pay mine; leave the government out of it), doesn't like too much homeland security, is not militaristic (except when attacked first). Some of you may hold entirely different persuasions. The one thing we probably all agree on is that both-sides-of-the-mouth Hillary, foot-in-mouth Obama, and where-is-my-mouth Edwards are not in the country's best interest, so we'd better back a conservativre who's electable and be done with the bickering.
