Osama bin Laden must be so impressed with these cheeseheads. They really know what matters in a president: A firm grasp of their hometown football team. But perhaps I'm a bit unfair here. Maybe these local-patriot Wisconsinites are the grandchildren of the America Firsters who dominated the region circa 1940. "Why are we fighting a war/sending money/worrying about folks on the other side of the world?" It's a perennial mentality in the Midwest and in much of the country. I'm no fan of Brownback, but I hope he doesn't start kissing the butts of people who truly care whether their favorite quarterback is or is not recognized as The Greatest. One's tempted to say: "Get a mental life, people."
