Summer is approaching, the flowers are in bloom, the birds are singing, and it’s time to brace yourselves for yet another possible fight for the Supreme Court--this time with Dems in the majority. This story claims that the White House is focusing on female and minority candidates--though most of the names mentioned have been mentioned before.
Makes perfect political sense. A conservative white male would have no chance of making it out of committee. None. But a mostly conservative female minority might be insulated just enough to make the less strident Democrats on the committee not oppose her come the time to vote.
The President's political capital is spent. He has nothing left in the account. He has almost no weapons whatever to fight for a contentious candidate.
