Great stuff, Joe. Fine little essays, each chock full of fascinating presidential God-talk. Like you, I thought Wasington's second address very instructive, with its reference to the "delusive pursuits" with which we can abuse our liberty, and with its powerful call for America to be an asylum to political refugees of all kinds.Here's Washington's original proclamation, and this same site has a fine introduction page that goes into the history behind it.
