The short of it is that Obama is Lincolnesque only if you overlook his failure to mention the Declaration of Independence, his rather cursory attention to Constitutional limits, and his playing the "mystic chords" of class warfare.

Thanks for doing this, Joe. It deserves an equally serious response. I'll try to do that as soon as possible. I find more of Lincoln in it than you do, and more Douglass - the Douglass who came to understand Lincoln after 1863. I don't agree with you at all regarding Obama's alleged embrace of purely Bill-of-Rights liberalism.
