Well good for Dan. But now with the situation in Georgia is the dragon back reborn in a new form without the communist ideology, but rather pan-Slavic one... more in common with what happened with Germany? Yes there are differences between what Putin represents and what Hitler sought, but in many ways the effects of how the Putin regime acts strongly echos what happened in Germany in mid 30s.
Back in the 90s I agreed with Dan about Russia, esp the need for recovery and order from the anarchy that the first part of Yeltsin's rule brought. And while at the time I agreed that the West's not saying anything when Yeltsin stole his 2nd term and then manufactured Putin's accession to the presidency, I think this was a grave mistake which was as grave as the West's original harsh treatment of Germany after WWI.
Good for US News and World Report!
Masterful. AS is smiling.
