Seriously, that's good advice for us too--we need to learn to make the sustained public argument again. Reagan is a treasure trove of such lessons. I look forward to your book.
The Reagan comparison/contrast is apt.
Reagan entered office with 7.5 percent unemployment. Obama started with 7.6 percent unemployment.
And oddly enough, both took office with the price of oil at $33 a barrel (though it jumped to $39 a barrel by the end of the day, Jan. 20, 2009).
Oh, good. We will get to compare these two very different approaches to unemployment and the price of oil in, say, another four years. We can look back, compare and contrast, and, I expect, gloat a bit in our economic misery. I can hardly wait.
