Where Is Will Rogers When We Need Him?
Posted by Steven Hayward
Watching the farce that is Waxman-Markey pass the House last night reminds me of Will Rogers’s aphorism that being a humorist is easy when you have the whole government working for you. With that in mind, the best thing to do now is take in GoRemy’s splendid song-and-dance routine about cap and trade.

Oh, we knew there would be significant damage when the Dems took over. Indeed, we should cheer them on...the quicker they run our society into a ditch, the quicker we can retake the wheel. But, of course, that will take some leadership, which we ain't got (although we do seem to have slick politicians who run off for Argentine trysts on the taxpayer's dime).
Apparently, this passed in the old-fashioned political way, with "sweeteners" for congressmen.
House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry A. Waxman, California Democrat, included the Kaptur project in a 310-page amendment to the legislation unveiled at 3 a.m. Friday, just hours before the bill was to be debated on the House floor. The amendment was packed with other vote-getting provisions, both large and small, that had been sought by dozens of wavering Democrats.
