Unemployment rose to about 9.7% in August(note the interactive map). In
California it is above 12% (the highest rate in 70 years), and in Nevada it's above 13%. In the meantime
Sweden "announced income tax cuts of 10 billion kronor to stimulate the job market." Senator
Harry Reid is in trouble: he is behind in the polls against both GOP would-be challengers, not even above 40% in the polls.

So, let me get this straight. Sweden? Sweden! is launching tax cuts to stimulate the economy while we kind of tried some pork-barrel spending, massive new government intrusions into health care, and let the "Bush" tax cuts expire so that we can soak the rich and increase capital gains taxes? Unbelievable.
Perhaps every American generation must learn such truths for themselves. How long has it taken Sweden to try the obvious? Here's hoping we do not have to wait so long.

Speaking of Harry Reid, the Senator from Nevada... I spent one week every December from 1994 to 2003 in Las Vegas attending the National Final Rodeo. I literally watched each year as Vegas became the mecca of the gambling, entertainment, hotel, dining destination world. The place was so crowded in the week before Christmas. My husband was recently traveling through Las Vegas and called to tell me how completely shocked he was at Las Vegas. It was dead. Dead as a the desert it was built in. The thousands of blocks of houses are empty. He drove through a new neighborhood and over half of it consisted of unoccupied homes. This was the city of labor unions that backed Obama 100% during the election. Now all those people are gone - homes lost, jobs losts. It is very, very sad. My husband went into the MGM - the tables are covered and no one was pulling those one-armed bandits. What workers were left in the casino trashed not only Obama, but mainly Harry Reid. He is a goner. Period. End of Discussion.
