I was wondering why my
Amazon numbers were soaring today (up to #981 Friday night--I know it's Christmas and all, but still. . .) and lo and behold I had missed the
Wall Street Journal picking it out as one of
the ten best books of the year. Very kind of them.

From what I've seen of all these lists, it was a pretty bleak year for books. Still, yours and Teachout's on Louis Armstrong seem far and away the best bets in non-fiction, in any year. If Richard Russo's is up to his standards, it will rank high in fiction.
