I have been meaning to bring to your attention a colloquium on Theodore Roosevelt by
Sidney Milkis....it took place in March. Good stuff, covering his serious book,
Theodore Roosevelt, the Progressive Party, and the Transformation of American Democracy. You should listen to him and read the book.

This should be a very good book. Follow the link and see what else Sid has done...I especially recommend the three edited volumes--Progressives, FDR liberals, and Great Society liberals.
